Anybody interested in attending a professionally-arranged conference addressing cultic group issues to be held in Nashville, TN?
by AndersonsInfo inone of the paramount non-profit anti-cult organizations headquartered in the us would like to arrange a two-day conference to be held in nashville, tn in the fall of 2011. this organization sponsors conferences, workshops, local meetings and special lectures, seminars, and other events all over the world for those interested in this subject.
at a nashville conference there will be opportunity to network with and listen to experts in the field and with people adversely affected by cultic experiences.. recently, when examining their records, this organization found that former jehovahs witnesses made up the bulk of those attending their anti-cult workshops which definitely indicates that many former witnesses are seeking help to overcome the damage from cult abuse.
however, the nashville conference will not be solely for former jehovahs witnesses, but will encourage attendance by anyone interested in hearing the experts address psychological manipulation and abuse in cultic groups, alternative movements, and other environments.

Yes, soon after the DFing I came to regret the action, feeling that justice was not done. It was years later, after getting my own thinking sorted out, that I called a still DF'd gentleman to apologize for my participation in the process.
He was gracious and said that he had forgiven me many years earlier.

What is your opinion of this noted Bible scholar's inference about JWs?

Probably 10 to 20 % of JWs know what scriptures to use and when in support of JW dogma. To the uninformed they sound like intelligent Bible scholars. Most householders are uninformed as the author suggests. I don't think he admires JWs. Rather he seems to be saying that JWs win many debates, not that they are correct.

In a New York Times (12/7) op-ed, columnist Nicholas D. Kristoff
wrote that "XDR-TB, the scariest form of tuberculosis," may "spread
to your neighborhood because it isn't being aggressively addressed
now, before it rages out of control. It's being nurtured by global
complacency." According to Kristoff, "Americans don't think much
about TB, just as we didn't think much of AIDS in the 1980s."Nevertheless, "drug-resistant TB is spreading -- half a million cases
a year already -- and in a world connected by jet planes and constant
flows of migrants and tourists, the risk is that our myopia will catch
up with us." At present, "one-third of the world's population is infected
with TB, and some 1.5 million people die annually of it." These figures
are higher than malaria deaths "or any infectious disease save AIDS."
Kristoff recommended that "Barack Obama's administration should
ensure it isn't complacent about TB in the way that Ronald Reagan
was about AIDS." -

I knew Gerald Grizzle as a very hard working CO nearly 40 years ago. He was actually a pretty nice guy then as far as I could tell.
